Children being teachers

Class 3 have been exploring our new outdoor space with Mrs Davies and have been learning about the plants and tees that grow there. In their literacy lessons they have been researching the trees they identified and have created their own tree guides.  Class 1 were chosen as their first audience and loved being shown around the Secret Garden by the Year 5 and 6 children and discovering lots of interesting facts about the trees they were shown.  They showed us how to spot an ash tree from the leaves and black buds and helped us feel the different types of bark and think of words to describe them.

The adults who accompanied the children were so impressed with the considerate and informative way the older children guided the younger ones around the woodland. They did such a good job that the adults even felt a bit redundant for a while!!

Class 1 are looking forward to our next joint adventure outdoors.
