Deer Class
Deer Class
A very warm welcome to our Year 5/6 class!
Deer Class is taught by Miss Simpson and Miss Coutts and is a class of Year 5 and Year 6 children.
We are looking forward to an exciting year filled with learning, new experiences, challenges and plenty of fun. Year 5 and 6 is a very important stage in the children's primary school journey, and we will work together to help every child become a confident, independent and enthusiastic learner.
Our classroom is a place where children are encouraged to ask questions, share ideas, challenge themselves and learn from their mistakes. We place a strong emphasis on kindness, respect, resilience and taking responsibility for our learning.Throughout the year, we will enjoy a wide range of exciting topics and experiences across the curriculum. We will develop our knowledge and skills in English, Mathematics and Science, alongside our learning in History, Geography, Art, Design Technology, Computing, French, PE, RE and PSHE.
We will also enjoy a range of high-quality books and texts to inspire our reading and writing. The children will have opportunities to write for different purposes and audiences, developing their vocabulary, creativity and confidence as writers.
As a mixed Year 5/6 class, the children will sometimes work together and at other times work on learning specific to their year group. We will make sure that all children are appropriately challenged and supported as they progress through Upper Key Stage 2.
An important part of Year 5 and 6 is developing independence and responsibility. We encourage the children to organise themselves, take pride in their work, manage their time and become increasingly responsible for their own learning.
For our Year 6 children, we will also help prepare them for the transition to secondary school, ensuring that they leave us feeling confident, capable and ready for their next adventure.
