Music

Our aims are to fulfil the requirements of the National Curriculum for music; providing a broad, balanced and differentiated curriculum; ensuring the progressive development of musical concepts, knowledge and skills; and for the children to develop a life-long love for music.  We aim for children to become confident performers, composers and listeners.

We use the ‘Kapow’ resources to support our Music teaching. The children focus on progression within performing, listening, composition, history of music and the interrelated dimensions of music. Children will be exposed to music from all around the world, across generations, communities and traditions along with great composers and musicians. We enjoy singing, playing tuned and untuned instruments, improvising and creating music, listening and responding to music and written music. Through the creativity of music children can gain vital transferable skills for the wider curriculum and beyond such as creative thinking, presentation and performance skills.
